Thank You (Hindi: थैंक यू) is a 2011 Bollywood romantic comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by UTV Motion Pictures.[3][4][5] It features Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol, Sonam Kapoor, Suniel Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Celina Jaitley and Rimi Sen. The film was released on April 8, 2011. Thank You is about three married men trying to have some fun outside their marriage. Akshay Kumar plays a detective who specializes in extra-marital relationships.[6][7] Most of the scenes in this film were shot in Vancouver andToronto, Canada and Bangkok. Other Bollywood films which have focused around a similar concept are Masti, No Entry, Shaadi No. 1and to a certain extent, Do Knot Disturb.
Plot
Sanjana (Sonam Kapoor) is married to Raj (Bobby Deol). When Sanjana starts to get suspicious of Raj having an affair, she goes to her friend Maya (Celina Jaitley) for help. Maya takes her to Kishan (Akshay Kumar), a private detective who helped her catch her husband Yogi (Suniel Shetty). Kishan shows Sanjana Raj's phone records to show her all the girls he talks to, but she doesn't believe him and walks out. Kishan and Maya decide to have Sanjana catch Raj red-handed. Kishan invites all of Raj's girlfriends to the same party. Raj sees them and asks his friends Yogi, and Vikram (Irrfan Khan) to help. They try to keep the girls away, but as one tries to kill herself, Raj goes to talk to her. Here, Sanjana finds Raj with her about to kiss her. She demands an explanation and Raj explains that she's drunk and was about to faint so he was just giving her some oxygen. The girl starting saying "kiss me darling". Sanjana gets mad and is about to walk away when Raj says that she's really saying 'Kiss-na' because that's her boyfriends name. In an affort to save Raj, Vikram shows up and starts explaining that he is her 'Kiss-na'. He goes on and on about how he really loves her and that he wanted to marry her but shouldn't. Kishan seeing that his plan was about to be runied brings Vikram's wife, Shivani (Rimi Sen). Once Vikram sees her, he says he was lying in order to save a friend. He signals Yogi over and tries to pass him off as 'Kiss-na'. Yogi refuses saying that he's already had many affairs and that his wife Maya will only forgive him so many times. Yogi tells them that's this is his 11th affair. Sanjana and Shivani get mad and walk away with their husbands leaving Yogi with the girl. Yogi sees that no one's around and kisses her because she keeps saying 'kiss- na' thinking its still Raj.
Vikram and Raj figure out that someone must be helping Sanjana spy on Raj because he finds his phone bill in her purse. They ask for help from K.D., a Canadian Security Intelligence Service officer that rents their yachts. He refuses saying that the job is beneath him. He tells them hire a private detective. Vikram and Raj go to Kishan for help not knowing that he's the guy helping Sanjana. Kishan agrees to help. Yogi goes to talk to Sanjana begging her not to tell his wife. She asks why he doesn't stop and change his ways. He says that if she heard his story, it would bring tears to her eyes. As Yogi is telling Sanjana his story, Kishan films them but changes what Yogi is saying to make it seem like he's the one who's been telling Sanjana about Raj's affairs. Kishan shows the tape to Vikram and Raj. They get really mad and break the camera. Yogi calls them and Vikram tells Raj to play it cool. Raj answers the call and asks where Yogi is. Yogi explains that he's going to a hotel to meet Sweety, his Swiss girlfriend because she's getting married next month and probably won't be able to see each other again. Yogi asks them to cover for him in case his wife calls. They tell him they'll cover for him but as soon as they hang up, they call Maya.
Maya goes to the hotel and catches him. She takes his clothes and leaves, leaving him with just the bathrobe from the hotel. As she's leaving Yogi sees Vikram and Raj in the lobby. He tells them that's he's been ruined and they tell him that they're the ones who told Maya. Yogi doesn't understand why and Vikram and Raj show him the film Kishan gave them. He tries to explain that even though its his voice and he did talk to Sanjana, he didn't say all those things. Vikram and Raj don't believe him and leave saying that their friendship is over. As they're leaving, Yogi hits Vikram and Raj's car which hits another that turns out to be King's, a gangster, car. King tells his people to find out who's car it is. Vikram gets worried but Raj says its okay because even though its their car, it's registered in Yogi's name. Kishan suggests that they go play golf. Raj says that Kishan and Vikram can go but he's going to go play a different game. Raj goes to one of his girlfriend's place and as he's singing her the song he sings every woman, her husband shows up. She explains that last week he caught her with another guy and shot him. She tells Raj to hide on the balcony.
As he's trying to hide, people on the ground see him on the balcony thinking he's trying to jump and kill himself. Kishan then calls the husband and we come to know that he hired them to pretend to be husband and wife. Kishan has called the police and media saying that a guy is trying to commit suicide. The media starts reporting the news and soon its on all the channels. Yogi sees and becomes happy because he thinks Raj will finally get caught. Vikram and Shivani see and Vikram tried to pass it off as the media trying to get even because they wouldn't give them a free yacht. Kishan calls Sanjana and says sorry and that her husband is a really nice guy. In fact, he's so nice that his niceness is all over TV. Sanjana sees the story and is hurt to find out her husband is cheating on her. Raj calls Vikram and tells him that he can't go home and he's going to hide out somewhere but he'll meet Vikram at the bay in the morning.
Vikram tells Raj that it must be Yogi's planning and that Raj could have been more careful now that he's their enemy. Raj is worried about what to do next but Vikram has a plan that will make Sanjana proud of him. Kishan calls Sanjana to see how she's doing and she calls him an idiot and tells him not to call her again. He follows her to the movies the next day. She tells him she say the news but he didn't see what she saw after that. She tells him that Raj is a great man and leaves. Kishan is standing there confused about how a half naked man caught with another woman could be great. He knows that Vikram and Raj must have done something and he plans to find out what it is. He goes to Yogi to find out how Raj was saved. Yogi says it was Vikram's idea along with K.D. Yogi says that K.D. is his friend and told him everything. Yogi explains that K.D. helped them and took Sanjana to headquarters. Vikram pretends to be an officer and takes Sanjana to Raj. When he sees Sanjana coming, Raj starts talking about quiting. He explains that the whole world thinking he's a cheater doesn't matter to him but he can't deal with Sanjana thinking so low of him. They put up an act saying that Raj is a great officer and even better husband and Sanjana should know the truth about him. Raj says he's been an officer since before their marriage and the yacht business is a cover. Sanjana explains that all her friends have been talking behind her back about Raj cheating and now she will proudly tell them that her husband is an undercover agent. Raj says that telling everyone will be a mistake and that if people find out, Raj's live along with hers will be in danger. Vikram explains that even Shivani doesn't know about Vikram being an undercover cop and that she can't tell anyone at all.
Kishan and Yogi determine that now Raj and Vikram can do whatever they want and even if they get caught, they'll just say it was part of a mission. As Raj and Vikram are leaving with girls from a party, Kishan starts shooting at them pretending to be King. Kishan calls them as they are hiding and he tells them that he's finally found the CSIS officers who took all his drugs and tortured and killed his brother. Vikram and Raj explain that they aren't the officers but 'King' doesn't believe them. Vikram and Raj agree to meet him and prove their innocent. Kishan invites Sanjana and Shivani along and bring Vikram and Raj blindfolded. Raj and Vikram are confused as to why they are blindfolded since they've already seen the King. When they get to the place along with girls, 'King' asks who the girls are and Raj and Vikram explain that they are their girlfriends. Vikram and Raj think the King is a flirt like them so they try to hook him. 'King' asks which girls are who's and Vikram explains that the ones that look under 25 are Raj's and the rest are his. Vikram and Raj say that after work and home, they spend time with the girls and therefore don't have time to be cops. 'King' gets mad and says his people saw them at CSIS headquarters. Raj explains that they were there but they were trying to fool his wife into thinking that he and Vikram were undercover cops. They keep going on and on about how they've made fools out of their wives over and over again. Raj says that one of his girlfriends even came to his house and he told his wife that she was like a sister to him and she believed him. Kishan leaves them talking about good they are with women.
Vikram and Raj call out for 'King' asking if they can take off their blindfolds. No one says anything so they take it off. Vikram sees Shivani and tells her it was joke but she faints. Raj sees Sanjana who is crying. She runs away crying and Raj is left standing their will the girls, Vikram and an unconscious Shivani. Sanjana is about to commit suicide when Kishan shows up. Kishan says he's going to kill himself because its his fault that she's trying to kill herself. Sanjana says no, she's trying to kill herself because she wants to punish Raj. After she dies, he'll realize what he's lost. Kishan asks how she knows he'll realize. He says that she considers punishment could be freedom for him. Kishan says she needs to punish him by living so she can see the results. Kishan agrees to get Sanjana get her old Raj back.
Kishan takes Sanjana to her mom's house. Raj calls Sanjana over and over again but Kishan won't let her answer. Kishan answers the phone and pretends to be a servant and says that Sanjana isn't home. When Raj says he knows she's home, Kishan tells him that he's an idiot for calling over and over again after what he did and hangs up. Raj goes to Vikram's house. Vikram yells at him saying that even servants are hanging up and yelling at him. Raj says that she used to call him a thousand times when he was upset with her for even 10 minutes and now its been days and he hasn't heard her voice. Raj says he knows its his fault. Vikram says its also her fault because she used King's name to fool him. He says King wasn't even in town that day. Vikram explains the only way to get her back his to either be like Yogi and serve is wife or be like him and have his wife serve him. Shivani gets a call and tells Vikram its her brother. It's actually Kishan wanting to know what's going on. Shivani tells him that Vikram is trying to give Raj advice. She says that Raj is really miserable and that he needs to see Sanjana. Kishan agrees and says that the time is right for them to meet. Vikram calls Raj and explains that as soon as she comes, she'll start screaming and yelling and crying and that as soon as she cries, he should hug her and everything will be fine. Sanjana finally shows up with Kishan hiding behind a newspaper. He tells her no screaming and yelling and crying and that she needs to seem happy and smile.
As she sits, Raj tells her she looks beautiful. He says he knows she wants to yell and scream and that she should say whatever comes to mind. She says there's no use in that anymore. Kishan signals her to ask for the time. She does and Raj tells her asking if she has to go somewhere. She says that she has plans to see a movie. He asks about her plans of coming home to their house and she says she hasn't thought about it. Raj spills coffee on himself and leaves to clean up. Kishan comes over to say that she's doing a good job. He says she needs to pay the bill. She does. Raj goes to Vikram's house and tells him. Vikram is shocked and worried because girls, specially wives, never pay the bill. He asks his wife and she says that with him there, she doesn't need to. Raj says that Sanjana's never paid before and Vikram says that she's trying to show his that she doesn't need him anymore. Kishan calls Shivani again and she again says its her brother. Vikram gets concerned that he calls a lot nowadays. Kishan asks if she got the papers and she says yes and that she will get them signed. Kishan tells her to be careful so Vikram doesn't read the papers. She says she'll handle it. Vikram says Raj shouldn't bow down to that 'woman' and Raj explains that the 'woman' is his wife. Raj says its his personal matter and he'll handle it. Vikram says its not personal anymore. He says its the question of every man's dignity and he won't let men lose.
Shivani shows up with the papers and tells Vikram that she's opening a new account at the bank and she needs his signature. As he's about to sit on the chair, she puts his glasses under him so they'll break and he won't read the papers. Vikram signs the papers and Shivani says that two witnesses are needed. Raj offers to sign. And again Raj and Vikram set out to find the mastermind behind the King plan. Kishan pretends to be Sanjana's new boyfriend. Kishan sents Yogi to Vikram and Raj to tell them the news of Sanjana's new boyfriend. Yogi tells them that he saw her hug him and whisper in his ear. Vikram and Raj ask who he is but Yogi says he didn't see his face. Raj says that if he'll lying, he'll kill him. Yogi offers to take them to where he knows Sanjana will meet him. Yogi takes them to the bay where Sanjana and her 'boyfriend' Kishan are. Before they can reach them, Raj's yacht runs out of fuel. They are unable to see his face, but they heard him play the flute.
Raj, Vikram and Yogi go to a bar. There Raj hits a guy wearing a black hat because he saw Sanjana's 'boyfriend' wearing a black hat. When Vikram goes home, he gets to know the papers he signed were actually property papers that made everything he owned Shivani's. He's so shocked that he's unable to say anything and starts losing his voice. Shivani kicks him out of the house and tells him to go to one of his girlfriend's house. Vikram, Raj and Yogi get together and go to Kishan for help to find the guy. They think Maya's friend, Sanjana's 'boyfriend' and Shivani's 'brother' are the same person. Kishan goes to Sanjana's mom's house to tell them what happened. He finds out from Sanjana's mom that Sanana's observing Karva Chauth fast for Raj. Kishan explains that if he finds out, he'll know they are faking being boyfriend and girlfriend because she had to see his face and do the ceremony before she can break the fast. She says she won't break it then and walks away. Sanjana's mom explains that she's really stubborn and that if he doesn't come, she really won't eat or drink anything.
Kishan sends Vikram, Yogi and Raj to the ceremony. At the ceremory, Sanjana and Shivani start to perform their parts when Yogi notices Sanjana's 'boyfriend' and realizes that she's not looking at Raj but at her 'boyfriend'. Raj, Vikram and Yogi chase him. After a long chase, Kishan gets away by sending them after the wrong car. As the car stops a house, King steps out and they think King is the mastermind behind the plan and Sanjana's 'boyfriend'. Vikram, Yogi and Raj go to tell Kishan that King is that guy they've been looking for. Kishan says that they should go to King's wife and expose him because she too thinks her husband is having an affairs and came to Kishan for help. Raj, Yogi and Vikram tell his wife and she and her father go to expose King. Raj starts to beat King up and King calls his real girlfriend. She tells him that she's single and Vikram says that there's been a misunderstanding. King's wife starts shooting at him and Vikram, Yogi and Raj run away. While waiting for Kishan to show up, Raj sees the music sheet and starts playing the notes on the piano. Raj, Vikram and Yogi realize that Kishan is the guy.
They are about to beat him up when Sanjana shows up. She says 3 against 1 isn't fair and asks Vikram and Yogi to sit down. She tells Raj and Kishan to fight. Vikram interferes and asks why she's wanting them to fight and who she wants to win. As she's thinking Yogi reminds her that Raj is her husband. Sanjana says she remembers that Raj is her husband. The one that always hurt her, lied to her and made her cry. She tells them that after she found out the truth about him, she went to kill herself and that Kishan was the guy that saved her. Raj says that's why she fell in love with him. Sanjana yells and Raj tells her to shut up. She starts to cry and Kishan goes to wipe her tears. Raj stops him and is about to hit him when Sanjana gets in between and tells Raj not to even touch him. He says he still had some shame in his because he did everything behind her back but she's compeletly shameless because she's doing everything in the open. Sanjana gets mad and says everything is true. She asks what he'll do now and he says he'll divorce her and walks away with Vikram and Yogi following.
Kishan pretends to marry Sanjana to get Raj all angry. When Kishan goes to give them the wedding invites, Raj, Yogi and Vikram try to beat him up but sine they're drunk, they beat up the wrong people and end up in jail. In jail, Raj realizes he's made a huge mistake and that everything is his fault. He says that Sanjana was never like this. Sanjana's world was Raj, he meant everything to her, she didn't even look at other men. King bails them out of jail and tells them that after they left his wife shot him. He says a bullet hit his head and made him think straight. He now realizes that she really loves him and he was wrong. Raj thinking that Kishan is really getting married to Sanjana, decides to kill Kishan so that he can tell Sanjana how much he loves her. King gives him a gun. Raj goes to the wedding, and shoots Kishan. Sanjana tells him that Kishan was actually trying to get them re-married, and after Raj finds this out, Kishan jumps back up, revealing that the bullets were all fake. King reveals that he was part of the plan and Kishan sent him to bail them out. Everyone asks Kishan why behind all his happiness, there always seems to be a sadness. He tells them that he once had a wife (Vidya Balan), who loved him very very much and used to sing the song he plays. When she found out that Kishan had an affair, she committed suicide and left him the punishment of life. After she died he realized that he loved only her. He was unable to save her and since then he has been helping couples like him and his wife hoping that his wife would forgive him. Raj and Sanjana get married again, Yogi asks his wife for one final chance, she agrees and Vikram apologizes to his wife and she accepts. At the end, Kishan is seen playing his flute happily going out to help another couple like Raj and Sanjana.
